Alderley Edge School for Girls is celebrating its fantastic achievement in the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Junior Maths Challenge. Open to schools globally, AESG scooped up 27 certificates in Years 7 & 8 ranging from bronze, silver and gold with two girls, Sushmita and Hannah both in Year 8 invited through to the next round.
Certificates for this competition are not easy to come by and this year’s standard has been particularly high. The UKMT Junior challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems – the girls have used all they have been taught while at AESG and the results speak for themselves.
