AESG Junior School were delighted to join a live session with Baroness Floella Benjamin on Tuesday 11 May.
The event, supported by SimplyBooks, was offered to schools all over the country, with around 300 students attending virtually.
Floella inspired students with her story, which has been written as two children’s books called ‘Coming to England’. She told the story of her childhood in Trinidad and her journey overseas at aged 10 to come to England.
An emotional, true story of her battles and challenges as she navigated a new country with her family, which she told effortlessly, vibrantly and enthusiastically.
Our Junior School pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the experience of listening to Floella and were inspired by her courage, consideration and confidence. She taught students that “childhood does last a lifetime”, and that “education is their passport to life”.
