On Wednesday, Year 5 were lucky enough to be given a guided tour of Alderley Edge woods as part of their study of local history and geography. Mr Mills of the Derbyshire Caving Club explained how the Edge has been an important mining site for the last four thou-sand years, and discussed the legends attached to the area.
They visited the Wizard’s Well, Castle Rock and Stormy Point. The girls enjoyed their picnic lunch in the quarry and were treated to a musical performance about the legend of Alderley Edge by the Holy Well. It was a fascinating afternoon, not marred by the Autumnal drizzle.
