On Wednesday, Year 5 braved the elements to visit the Maritime Museum in Liverpool.
Our topic this half-term is the Titanic and the Maritime Museum in Liverpool has a particular interest in the Titanic because the ship was registered in Liverpool and the White Star Line had its headquarters there.
Our day began with a Voyage of Discovery workshop in which the girls took the roles of real crew and passengers in order to understand the ship’s construction, how it felt to travel in such luxury and what happened on the fateful evening of the sinking. After a picnic lunch, we explored the Titanic gallery and were able to examine the launch, voyage, sinking and contemporaneous press coverage.
