Netball Competitions

During the last two weeks the U13, U14and U16 netball teams have travelled the country competing at the highest level in school netball.

On 1st March our U14 netball team travelled to Nottingham University to play in the National Netball final. The girls played brilliantly winning all their group games, including a very close game against King’s High School, Warwick, where only one goal separated the two schools.

As winners of the group, they then entered the Cup competition (the highest level of competition) where they played a semi-final and then the final. Both games were close and could have gone either way, however after some spectacular playing, the girls won 13-9 against Farnborough Hill and 15-12 again Shoreham College, which means they won the overall competition and were crowned ISA National Netball Champions!

Then on 8th March, our U16 team also travelled to Nottingham University for the national finals. The girls played exceptionally well as a team and won all but one of their group games against a very tough opposition. The unfortunate loss in the group stages meant they went through to the Plate Competition. The girls were disappointed not to be in the Cup Competition but continued on their winning form in the Plate. Winning both the semi and the final convincingly.

The U16’s have been crowned as ISA National Netball Plate Winners!

On 9th March, the U13 team travelled to Rugby School to also compete in the National Finals. The girls won all their group games and were therefore entered into the Cup Competition (the highest level of competition, for the top teams of the day) As there were more teams in this competition, two teams went through from every group meaning they had to play a quarter final as well as a semi.

The girls won their quarter final against a strong Queen Ethelburga’s College. They then played Finborough College in the semi and lost 11-12 in a very tight game. They then played in the 3rd/4th play off against Kew House School and sadly lost that in another very close game 12-14.

AESG finished 4th overall at U13’s ISA National Netball Finals. They should be very proud of themselves!

Huge Congratulations to all of the girls involved and a special thank you to the Sports Department for their commitment in coaching these girls to play at such a high level and for giving up so much of their time to take them to these competitions.  Well done to all!
